The life of Jerome pt. 2

Age 13 - Jerome's life has taken another turn for the worse. His mom is killed by a drug dealer for not paying a debt. Jerome moves in with Reggie and Reggie's alcoholic mother. Reggie's mother, LaToya, demands that Jerome needs to "pay his fuckin share" if he wants to live with them. Seeing as how legitimate jobs are few and far between for a 13 year old, Jerome is forced to quit school and work as a lookout for local drug dealers. He spends his days riding around on a bike that his boss stole for him and yelling if any cops come by. When Jerome isn't working the corner, he spends his time with Reggie. One of their favorite things to do is wait until LaToya passes out and then watch Danny Glover movies. LaToya flies into a rage any time she sees Danny Glover, believing that he is Reggie's deadbeat dad. Glover, however, is the only positive male influence in the lives of both Reggie and Jerome.

Age 14 - Jerome gets promoted at work after one of his co-workers is shot by a rival drug dealer. Now tending the stash and keeping the count, Jerome is making more money than he has ever had. Unsure of exactly what to do with his growing cache of money, he hides it in a sock in his sock drawer. The only person Jerome ever tells about his stash is his trusted friend Reggie. One morning though, Jerome wakes up to find that both Reggie and his money are gone. "THAT MOTHERFUCKER STOLE MAH SHIT!!!!!!" Jerome roars.

Age 15 - Disillusioned by his best friends betrayal, Jerome begins to take a "FUCK THE WORLD" attitude. He begins stealing cars and taking joyrides. He also starts drinking malt liquor all the damn time. One night, while blind drunk on COLT 45, Jerome steals a car and drunkenly smashes it into a stoplight. Game over Jerome. He is taken to the hospital, released and then taken to County Jail. The Judge gives him 3 years for grand theft auto and a DWI.

Age 16 - Jerome is in the STEEL CLINK. He spends his days getting raped by hardened criminals and writing letters to Danny Glover. As he is raped he likes to think that if he flaps his arms like the white kid from ANGELS IN THE OUTFIELD that maybe Danny Glover will believe in him and then adopt him and that other weird little black kid so they won't have to live with that crazy lady who likes to make Jello. It never works. What a surprise.
