The life of Jerome pt. 3

Age 17 - Jerome is spending his final year behind bars. Finally his sentence is up and he is free of the daily rape sessions. Jerome exits the cold barren walls of the prison and enters into a harsh reality where uneducated, black, teen-age felons have pretty much no shot of ever doing anything productive. This stark truth doesn't damper Jerome's spirits. "BOOYAH! I'M OUT! I'M GONNA GET A JOB AND NEVER GO BACK TO THAT SHITHOLE AGAIN!" That's wishful thinking Jerome. Maybe if you work hard and stay out of trouble it just might happen.

Age 18 - It doesn't happen. Jerome works for a short time as a janitor, but quits because "I aint wanna clean up no fuckin shit all day." Unemployed and Uneducated, Jerome goes back to his roots: SLANGIN ROCK. Unfortunately for Jerome, the game changed while he was on the inside. The cops have caught on to the old tricks. Within his first week of slangin, Jerome sells to an undercover cop. Ooops. Looks like you ARE going back to that shithole again for a while.

Age 19 - "Man if it wasnt cuz of Reggies dumb ass I wouldnt be in dis fuckin cell, DAAMN!" The warden feigns a look of surprise as he sees Jerome re-enter prison. "I thought you said you were never comin back Jerome? What happened to that shit you little hopper?" "aww fuck you man get off my nuts." Even in the dark depths of prison, a small ray of hope shines brightly. Jerome is lucky enough to have a cellmate with a TV. After extensive haggling, Jerome is able to obtain several bootleg copies of Danny Glover movies. These movies help him through the hard times.
