The life of Jerome pt. 4
Age 20 - Jerome is still in prison. After talking with several other inmates he is given a tip on how to get out of prison early. "Man all ya gotta do is act like u fuckin love jesus so hard and shit man!" This idea seems pretty simple to Jerome. He begins attending religious services and prayer groups. Things seem to finally be going well for our protagonist. Maybe with the Lord on his side, Jerome will be able to turn his life around. One day his prayer group is discussing angels. Jerome makes the mistake of bring up Angels in the Outfield, his favorite Danny Glover film. The rest of the prayer group, thinking that Jerome is mocking them by insinuating that Jesus is petty enough to interfere with the outcome of Major League Baseball, kicks him out. He is banished. "Well maybe I can join them Muslim dudes," thinks Jerome. The word has spread around prison that Jerome is an atheist bigot. No religious group will take him. Another crippling blow dealt to Jerome. "Why the fuck does this shit keepin happenin to me?" Jerome ponders as he passes the days in his cell.
Age 22 - Jerome is released on Parole. After meeting with his PO (Parole Officer), Jerome is provided with an entry level job working at a factory. The pay is decent and he gets health insurance. If Jerome works hard and keeps focused, he has the opportunity to get promoted and have a career. Jerome keeps his nose to the grindstone and works hard month after month. His supervisors notice that he is a diligent worker and he is given a small raise. Jerome has finally gotten his life on track and is able to afford to live in a modest apartment.
